On Saturday, May 20, the Cranberry Coffeehouse is proud to present The Old Shoe String Band, featuring John Thomson, Janet Nieburg, Jeff Bronfeld, and Matt Byrne, features a wide variety of traditional music on fiddle, banjo, mandolin, mountain dulcimer, autoharp, bowed psaltery, guitar, pennywhistle, harmonica, concertina, bass, and percussion. For their Cranberry Coffeehouse debut, Danielle Swart will be filling in for Matt.

Multi-instrumentalist John Thomson is well known to the Cranberry Community, having been involved in the coffeehouse since its inception 51 years ago. Janet Nieburg has graced the Cranberry Coffeehouse with her mountain dulcimer playing for years. Jeff Bronfeld, another staple in the local folk community, has been a gracious host to local musicians at a monthly ham at his home, and annual gatherings at Chenango Valley State Park. Singer-songwriter Danielle Swart is another long-time contributor to local folk music events.

The Cranberry Coffeehouse, now in its 51st year, generally takes place on the third Saturday of the month at 7:30 at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at 183 Riverside Drive in Binghamton. Coffee and baked goods will be available during the intermission. Performances feature a middle set where local musicians, story-tellers, and other entertainers are invited to share their talents, within a five-minute limit.

A $10.00 donation at the door is suggested (all funds, minus a small fee for the use of the space, benefit our performers).
