Special Programs

Child Dedications:  This ceremony honors the covenant of love and support between the congregation “church family,” and infants, children and families.  To learn more, contact our minister.

Community Building Events:  Throughout the year, we sponsor  multigenerational holiday celebrations such as a Halloween Party, Holiday Craft Workshop, St. Lucia Celebration, and other social gatherings to make and deepen connections.

Coming of Age Program:  This program of study and activities for 8th and 9th grade youth marks the passage from childhood to adolescence.  Participants deepen their understanding of the history and tradition of our faith, our congregation, worship, social justice, and their own religious and spiritual beliefs through group sessions, reflection, mentoring, community service,  and a culminating community-wide service of affirmation. Coming-of-Age returns in 2018-19.

Our Whole Lives (OWL) –  Our Whole Lives (OWL) is a series of sexuality and values education curricula, designed to provide age appropriate information, support and discussion.  The OWL curricula were developed jointly by the Unitarian Universalist Assocation and the United Church of Christ, and are secular, with optional faith overlays for UU and UCC settings.

Alternating years we offer the comprehensive, year-long program for 7th and 8th graders, using the UU overlay to tie the curriculum values of self worth, health, responsibility, justice and inclusivity to our Principles and values.  This program supports healthy decision-making and relationships, providing unbiased information in a supportive environment, and supporting family communication, as parents fulfill their roles as the primary sexuality educators for their children.

OWL for grades 7&8 returns in 2018-19.
